The Hessenpark Open Air Museum is a member of the ICOM, International Council Of Museums. All ICOM members who produce a valid ID card at the ticket office will be admitted free of charge.
Refugees can enter the Hessenpark Open Air Museum free of charge. Please show your residence permit at the cash desk. For people from Ukraine who have recently come to Germany, it is sufficient to present an identity document. We ask larger groups to register their visit in advance. You can reach us on 06081-588-333 or buchung@hessenpark.de. Accompanying persons can also visit the museum free of charge.

By bus/rail
Take the bus or train to Wehrheim or Neu-Anspach / Anspach Bahnhof. In Wehrheim, board the 64 bus, and in Neu-Anspach/ Anspach Bahnhof board the 63 bus and exit at Neu-Anspach / Hessenpark.
By bike
You can easily cycle to the Open Air Museum. From the centre of Bad Homburg, it is only 13 kilometres. To plan your bicycle tour or to find the route, please check online under Radroutenplaner Hessen.
Hiking
Surrounding Hessenpark in the Taunus forest are numerous hiking routes that lead to the Open Air Museum. Detailed information about paths and routes can be found at the Taunus Information Center in Oberursel (Hohemarkstraße 192; phone: 06171 507-80) or online.
By car
It is a 30 minute drive from Frankfurt/Main and a 40 minute drive from Giessen.
Tour by coach
There are numerous inclusive coach tours on offer to the Hessenpark Open Air Museum. Ask for details from the coach or bus operator closest to you.
Service & Rules
Service for familys with children
Families are very welcome at the Open Air Museum. To make your visit with young children fully enjoyable, we offer a selection of handcarts free of charge. Changing facilities are available in the main entrance building as well as, in the Northern Hesse Ensemble, in the toilets of the House from Remsfeld, Martinsklause and the Manor House from Solms. The playground (Northern Hesse Ensemble) is located next to the Stable Barn from Asterode, the exhibition building (Northern Hesse Ensemble).
Information for visitors with disabilities
Parking spaces for visitors with disabilities are located immediately next to the museum’s entrance. Both the entrance area and the box office are fully accessible. The box office offers visitors a barrier-free plan of the museum. Accessible toilets are available throughout the Open Air Museum and marked on the site maps. Although some roads and paths are cobbled, many sections of the routes have special surfacing that can be easily used by wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
Unfortunately, numerous reconstructed buildings do not offer barrier-free access due to their historic structural conditions (steep steps, narrow doors and small rooms). We apologize for the inconvenience. Please be assured that we do our best trying to consider the needs of all our visitors when planning new projects and measures. Our new, modern exhibition building, the Stable Barn from Asterode (Northern Hesse Ensemble), offers over 300 square meters of accessible exhibition space. And the Synagogue from Groß-Umstadt (Southern Hesse Ensemble) have an accessible entry ramp.

Smoke-free museum
Since 1 March 2011, there has been a ban on smoking throughout the Open-Air Museum’s premises to protect the historical buildings from the effects of smoke, and the natural surroundings from the risk of fire. However, smoking is permitted in areas identified as smoking zones. The smoking ban applies in all buildings. Thank you for your support!
Visiting with dogs
Bringing dogs to the museum is permitted in principle. Dogs must be kept on a lead everywhere on the museum site and must not be taken into the buildings.
